Since 2001, St Editha's
has opened its doors to the local schools in the form of 'Open
Door'.
In 2008 nearly seven hundred
year five children visited us over a four day period and discovered
a great deal about the church building and its history, the Christian
faith and also about themselves. Whilst with us they not only
take tours of the building but also take part in a workshop. Fifteen
workshops covered a wide range of activities and included seed
mosaics, boxes, mathematical models, quilling, calligraphy, dance
and drama, pilgrimage, glass painting, stained glass, well dressing,
banners, crosses, chalices & patens, & the Trinity.
The children had a great
day finding out about everything and anything and at the end they
took home whatever they made or a certificate. Take a look at
some of the children's work in former years, and their view of
the event, by clicking on the links at the bottom of this page.
If you're a teacher in
the Tamworth area and have year fives that you would like to share
in the open door experience at St Editha's, please contact the
Church office using the 'Contact Us' link below.
