Confirmation

If you were baptised as a child, your Godparents (sponsors) and parents made a choice for you which meant that you became a member of the Church, and began your journey as a Christian. It might be the case that you would like to confirm that decision and progress further in knowledge and membership of the Church and your Christian faith. Perhaps you have begun to wonder more about Christian things and are looking for a way of developing your faith and more formally 'belonging' to the Church.

Perhaps you recognise yourself in the above description. On the other hand, you might have come to a place in your life where you would like to find out more about having a relationship with God and what it means to have a personal Christian faith of your own. Traditionally, Confirmation has been a stage in the Christian walk that has recognised the place that the believer has reached within the Christian community and their own faith life and enables them to share fully in our worship by receiving Communion?

At Confirmation the Bishop places his hands on your head and prays that God will confirm (strengthen) you with his Holy Spirit. He asks that God will help you to live your life as a Christian,as you continue your journey of faith.

If you are seeking a deeper, more personal and informed faith life then Confirmation might well be the right direction for you. To find out more, please contact any of the members of the church, the clergy or the church office. Depending upon your situation we will endeavour to put together a programme that will help you to take your full place within the Christian family here at St Editha's.
