Recent high profile cases of historic abuse have made the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults a hot topic nationally.
Within the church setting there are many opportunities for interaction with people of all ages and backgrounds, and so, to ensure safe practices are always followed, the Parish of Tamworth has agreed its own safeguarding policy which you will find in the centre panel.
A copy of the full policy is available from the church office.
“We, along with the whole Christian Community, believe each person has value and dignity which comes directly from God’s creation of male and female in God’s own image and likeness. Christians see this as fulfilled by God’s re-creation of us in Christ. Among other things this implies a duty to value all people as bearing the image of God and therefore to protect them from harm.”
“We are committed to:
The care, nurture of and respectful pastoral ministry to all children and adults and the safeguarding and protection of all children, young people and vulnerable adults.
Establishing safe, caring communities which provide a loving environment where there is a culture of ‘informed vigilance’ as to the dangers of abuse.
In all these principles we will follow legislation, guidance and recognised good practice.”
